Marion Pardone : Behind the Scenes

Being part of a radio play is very different to being on stage and two members of the cast give a little insight into their experience.

Mandy Phillips playing Marion Pardone

How you feeling about the broadcast premier coming up on Thursday?
Really looking forward to the broadcast. It's a new and exciting direction for the group and it's keeping us in touch with our audiences who haven't been able to have the experience of live drama for a while. Very grateful to Lesley for her beautiful script and to Jennie for taking us through the entire process which hasn't been without its challenges.
How was the experience of recording a show from your very own home?
The process of recording was surreal...and frightening....you're more scared about fluffing your lines in this medium than you are on stage. Not having someone beside you to "act" with also makes the process that bit harder. But it's always good to have a challenge in drama.
What’s been the highlight of these new performances?
Highlight? No lines to learn 🤣

Morag Mouat playing Lady Eleanor

How you feeling about the broadcast premier coming up on Thursday?
Nervous! Your voice never sounds like you think it does when recorded and played back to you. On stage you only hear what you always hear. Also the audience has no physical acting clues just your voice to indicate all aspects of emotions.
How was the experience of recording a show from your very own home?
Recording was a challenge in that we’d never done it before but in real terms quite easy if that makes sense. Making sure phones unplugged, mobiles off, tv banned and no flushing the loo! I recorded in bedroom as softer furnishings for sound. Also, unlike the stage, you could stop if it all went wrong and re-record!
