Ali Baba : Behind the Scenes : Dressing Room

We were delighted to welcome new members into both the Chorus and Principal parts for Ali Baba. It was certainly a bit of a crush in the ladies dressing room with twenty three of us ! The Chorus were Courtiers of the Sultan's Court Thieves! And Villagers of Wakhah Everyone helps each other get ready! Even the author of the panto (Mandy) and Director Morag dressed up as Villagers for the opening number! Behind The Scenes : The Crucible : Wardrobe

It's the turn of Wardrobe to take centre stage tonight. Although our Director set The Crucible in a Shetland/Scottish context the action still took place in the late 16th Century. Martine Hall was the Director's historical researcher and Fiona Smith, our costume designer also spent time researching the costumes of the period. Feet were a huge concern with the young girls undoubtedly being barefoot at the time and Babs Club provided a fabulous bottle of "MUD" which was used to spray feet and which was also daubed on the bottom of nightdresses and dresses. Older characters wore Rivelins which were researched by Martine and made by her. They were amazingly comfortable! The colours of woven fabric of the day were researched by Fiona and many were found in our extensive wardrobe. The mustard colour overcostume worn by Goody Putnum (Mandy Phillips) has seen many an outing in plays and pantos but worked well with a black undergarment and cap. Linen

Behind the Scenes : Ali Baba : One Big Family

We always consider ourselves as one big family, on or off the stage, but as in other years we have quite a few generation family links both in the cast and back stage. We love that we pass on our passion for the stage and our beloved Garrison Theatre to another generation. Stephenie Georgia (Iwanta Pee) and her daughter Isobel (Chorus) Jennie Atkinson (Chorus) and son Robin (Backstage) Christine Geldard and son Alastair (both Backstage) Donna-Marie Leask (Iwanta Saucermaet Roll) and her daughter Ryleigh (Chorus) Mandy Phillips (writer of the panto!) and her daughter Lois (helping out with Teas)
