Moriarty : Behind the Scenes : Props and Set Dressing

Karen Erasmuson took on the role of Props Co-ordinator and with the actors using props from day one of rehearsals this was a heavy role from the beginning. It takes time to source items from the period but many were handmade as well.

Some of the items on the props table.

Much of the story centred around the "letters" between the King of Bohemia and Irene Adler : these are some of the stamps which were on the letters.

The play covers many settings and whilst sound effects and music created the atmosphere, this was greatly enhanced by posters which changed with the individual scenes.

Act 1: The Tavern, The Opera, Gasner's Newsagents, Kings Cross Station and the Chandelier at the Bohemian Embassy.

Act 2: The Death of King Otto, Lambeth Wharf, Paddington Station, The Rochester and the Reichenbach Falls

Never work with children and animals they say, so we didn't! opting instead for furry friends controlled by the actors!

Nefertiti the cat, normally asleep in her basket under the coat stand but who jumped out of the window with alarming speed!

And Toby the amazing Hound operated by Donna-Marie Leask.
