The Crucible was a long play (four Acts) with a large cast. Whilst some of the lead characters were on stage in all Acts many were only onstage in Act 1 and Act 4, Act 2 and Act 3 others only in Act 4. So there was a lot of time spent sitting in the dressing rooms ..... so how to keep occupied.
